Summer Kids Club:
This is our most popular club and is open to girls ages 6-15 and boys ages 6-12, beginners through advanced as each group is additionally divided at riding time into appropriate skill levels.  Members arrive between 7am and 9:00am with scheduled activities beginning at 9:00am.  A typical day at Urbana Riding Club has members riding in a lesson or trail ride for one hour each day and an additional hour of pony games one time each week.  Kids Club members also swim each day and participate in two or three additional activities which change throughout the week, ie. archery, climbing wall, zipline, slip & slide, crafts, field sports and many more.  Members are encouraged but not forced to participate. We accept 80 participants per session in this program.

Ultimate Riders Club:
This is a club we offered years ago and is back by demand!  The Ultimate Rider Club accepts  girls who are at least 10 years old by June 1, 2012 and have experience in riding and handling horses. Ultimate Riders must be able to walk, trot and canter as a group and jump at least 18".  Ultimate Riders arrive between 7am and 9:00am with scheduled activities beginning at 9:00am.  A typical day has Ultimate Riders riding in a lesson or trail ride for an hour each morning and an hour each afternoon.  This is TWO HOURS OF RIDING EVERYDAY!  Ultimate  Riders also swim and have crafts but most of their day is spent riding and learning about horses. This program is limited to 16 participants per session and we anticipate it to fill early.

Pit Crew Club:
This is a program our older campers suggested and we are very excited to offer.  The Pit Crew Program is offered at a discounted rate as these children will be working part of the day.  Pit Crew participants must be 14 years old by June 1, 2012, have attended URC Summer Kids Club in the past, and feel comfortable working around horses.  Pit Crew participants arrive between 7am and 9:00am with scheduled activities beginning at 9:00am.  A typical day for Pit Crew is a  riding lesson or trail ride for one hour at 9:00am each day, swimming, and helping the riding staff in the rings for several hours. This is a program designed for responsible teenagers that are interested in the CIT program in the future.  The Pit Crew is limited to 16 participants per session.

CIT (Counselor in Training):
This is a free program for individuals interested in becoming counselors in the future.  CIT's must be 15 years old by June 1, 2012, have attended URC Summer Kids Club in the past, and feel comfortable working around horses and children.  CIT's need to be responsible, polite and have leadership skills.  URC considers CIT's employees and reserves the right to relieve them of their job if necessary.  CIT's are assigned duties as needed.  CIT's are expected to attend the training sessions and to work from 8:30am to 4:30pm for at least two sessions (four weeks).  CIT's will earn riding credits.  The CIT program is limited to 10 participants per session and always fills early.  Please email for a CIT application.

Sign out procedures: Parents must sign their children out when they pick up at the bus stop and at the riding club!  To avoid confusion, we ask that you not change buses in the afternoons but if you need to pick up early please phone ahead and pick your child up before 3:45 at the club.  We will not accept changes told to us by your children!

Suggested things to bring each day: A bagged lunch with nonperishable food.  Long pants to ride in.  Closed toe shoes with a short heel to ride and handle horses in.  Riding helmet with your name in it if you have one, if not, we have helmets for borrow (no bike helmets).  Bathing suit and towel.  Wear shorts and sneakers, sandals are not advisable in this environment.  Please apply sunscreen each morning and send more for your child to apply later.  Our staff are not allowed to apply sunscreen to the children.  Wearing shirts in the pool for extra sun protection is advised.  Children may bring a few dollars for snacks from the camp store.  No large amounts of money or valuables should be brought to camp as we do not have lockers.  Please leave electronic games at home, they will not be permitted at camp.  Phones may be brought at your own risk but their use will be restricted to before and after care.  This is a farm environment which means your children will get dirty, please keep this in mind when choosing the clothes they wear.

Horseback Riding:
Horseback riding is the focus of our club.  All Summer Kids Club  members will ride every day and learn many aspects of riding and horse management while still enjoying the many general activitiesNo experience is necessary.

Games on the ponies as EXTRA RIDING

Summer Kids Club members have a lesson or trail ride every day.   Trail rides are through the woods or fields and even to the river to splash around.

Ultimate Riders ride twice a day and have extra time to care for horses along with the other camp activities.
Swimming:
Club members are given a swim test each Monday to assess their swimming abilities and beginner swimmers are assigned floatation devices.  Certified life guards oversee activities at all times.  Check out that water slide!
Challenge Course and Zip line:
The challenge course offers members the opportunity to develop teamwork and coordination.  Obstacles include rope swings, fidget ladder, balance beam, and bosun chairs.  And the 200 foot zip line is awesome!  Nature hikes along the Little Bennet Branch of the Monocacy River and wildlife walks in the abundant woods are always a hit…bring your river shoes!
Climbing Wall:
Our 24 foot indoor climbing wall and bouldering wall allow members to experience the thrills of rock climbing.  Only four kids made it to the top of the firecracker ladder this summer!
  The Pony Spa
Many children love to groom and wash the horses.  The Pony Spa along with our four indoor wash stalls provide plenty of opportunity for children to care for horses if they like.
Field Games:
Soccer, baseball, basketball, Frisbee, and archery are some of the fun filled field sports the club encourages members to participate in.  The focus is on individual improvement.
Giant Slip-n- Slides:
The 40 foot inflatable slip-n-slide and the 150 foot hill slide will thrill even the bravest kids.
