SUMMER FULL DAY KIDS CLUB

The summer full day Kids Club is an informal, physically active environment for girls ages 6-15 and boys ages 6-12 offered during the summer quarter when local schools are on break.  Children are placed in groups according to age and gender and we strive to keep our staff to member ratios at 1 to 10.  Our specialists, such as our horseback riding, climbing wall, and archery instructors are certified to assist in all adventure sports offered.  Looking for an application?  Go to Important Forms to Download.

Drop off and Pick up information:
There are no drop offs or pick ups on site for the summer kids club program unless you live on Roderick Road.   All children should be dropped off with our staff at Urbana Park in the mornings between 7:00am and 8:50am or Sally K Ride Elementary between 7:30am and 8:30am, they will be bussed to our site.  In the afternoons the children will be bussed to Urbana Park at 4:10, 4:30 or 5:00 or Sally K Ride (you choose which time/location on your registration form).  We do not charge for extended care.  The structured hours of the full day program is 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

A Typical Day at the Summer Kids Club:
Members arrive between 7am and 9am with scheduled activities beginning at 9am.  A typical day at Urbana Riding Club has members riding and swimming each day plus two or three additional activities which change throughout the week, these activities include archery, climbing wall, crafts, field sports and many more.  Members are encouraged but not forced to participate. Changed for 2008: The return of full camp activities on Fridays such as Counselor Fashion Show, Spirit Day, Capture the Halter and more.

Sign out procedures: Parents must sign their children out when they pick up at the bus stop and at the riding club!  To avoid confusion, we ask that you not change bus times in the afternoons but if you need to pick up early please phone ahead and pick your child up before 3:45 at the club.  We will not accept changes told to us by your children!

Suggested things to bring each day: A bagged lunch with nonperishable food which will be refrigerated.  Long pants to ride in.  Closed toe shoes with a short heel to ride in.  Riding helmet with your name in it if you have one, if not, we have helmets for borrow (no bike helmets).  Bathing suit and towel.  Wear shorts and sneakers, sandals are not advisable in this environment.  Please apply sunscreen each morning and send more for your child to apply later.  Our staff are not allowed to apply sunscreen to the children.  Wearing shirts in the pool for extra sun protection is advised.  Children may bring a few dollars for snacks from the camp store.  No large amounts of money or valuables should be brought to camp as we have non-locking cubbies.  Please leave electronic games at home, they will not be permitted at camp.  Phones may be brought at your own risk but their use will be restricted to before and after care.  This is a farm environment which means your children will get dirty, please keep this in mind when choosing the clothes they wear.

Lunch:  Lunch is not provided.  Members should bring a clearly labeled disposable bag lunch with nonperishable items that will be refrigerated upon arrival.  Soda, Gatorade, candy, and Popsicles are available at the club store.  The club will provide a Popsicle for each child to enjoy in the afternoon.

First Aid:  Urbana Riding Club staff is trained in first aid and are ready to handle medical emergencies and to provide lots of TLC.

Summer Full Day Kids Club Activities:

Horseback Riding:
Horseback riding is the focus of our club.  All Summer Kids Club  members will ride every day and learn many aspects of riding and horse management while still enjoying the many general activitiesNo experience is necessary.

Games on the ponies as EXTRA RIDING five days/week!

Summer Kids Club members have a lesson or trail ride every day.

When the riding instructors feel you are accomplished enough in  in the arenas, you may go on trail rides through the woods and even to the river to splash around.
Swimming:
Club members are given a swim test each Monday to assess their swimming abilities and beginner swimmers are assigned floatation devices.  Certified life guards oversee activities at all times.  Check out that water slide!
Challenge Course and Zip line:
The challenge course offers members the opportunity to develop teamwork and coordination.  Obstacles include rope swings, fidget ladder, balance beam, and bosun chairs.  And the 200 foot zip line is awesome!  Nature hikes along the Little Bennet Branch of the Monocacy River and wildlife walks in the abundant woods are always a hit…bring your river shoes!
Climbing Wall:
Our 24 foot indoor climbing wall and bouldering wall allow members to experience the thrills of rock climbing.  Only four kids made it to the top of the firecracker ladder this summer!
Full Camp Activities:
On Fridays we have everyone join together for activities such at the Counselor Fashion Show, Capture the Halter, Talent Show, Indoor Soccer, Create your own Line Dance, Counselor Hunt and more.
Field Games:
Soccer, baseball, basketball, Frisbee, and archery are some of the fun filled field sports the club encourages members to participate in.  The focus is on individual improvement.
Giant Slip-n- Slides:
The 40 foot inflatable slip-n-slide and the 150 foot hill slide will thrill even the bravest kids.
Game Room:
Our game room provides a fun alternative for members choosing not to swim, with ping pong, air hockey and more.
Playground Equipment:
Includes volleyball, tetherball, merry-go-round, play castle & ship, balance beam, and swings.
Arts and Crafts:
Our 3000 square foot recreation hall gives members plenty of room to experiment in candle art, sand art, beads, gimp, ceramics, pottery, and more.  Specialized staff will give guidance.
Special Events:
On the last Friday of each session the club will provide pizza for members to enjoy.

Due to neighborhood traffic concerns we will no longer be offering a rally day for parents to view but you are always welcome to stop out and visit your child!  Please let a staff member know when you arrive for security reasons.

Costs:
Any days or weeks not attended will NOT be refunded.  Full payment is requested with signed application, however, your deposit will retain your enrollment and we will accept payments until the final due date of the summer session (May 15th).  After May 15th registrations will be accepted with full payment only. The full day program sessions may be split with permission from the office.  Please contact the office with any questions.
